The Route
While the course remains the same, each race theme is different from year to year and each experience is unique. The race routes will begin and end at Ulmer Park in Springfield at 503 N. Oak Street. The course streets are low traffic residential roads and Ulmer Park offers parking and restroom facilities. We have a 1 mile, 1 kilometer and non repeating full 5K course that we can use for our series of races.
The Series
The 5K Series was starting in Springfield in 2016 to promote Downtown Springfield, encourage healthy habits and provide a fun and safe activity for families and residents. By having three 5K races, we can create a unique experience, recognize overall progress, and promote healthy lifestyle changes. By running a familiar course, we want to encourage everyone to better their race times and be comfortable with our course.
The Reason
All profits from the 5K Series are put back into Downtown Springfield and our local community. The Downtown Development Authority uses profits from the race series to offer facade grants and downtown incentive programs. The ECCA FFA Chapter is co-hosting this year’s 5K series and will use these much needed proceeds to help fund travel and scholarship opportunities for its student members.
